What types of clearance events does Dollar General hold?
Dollar General typically has two main types of clearance events:
CORE Clearance
CORE clearance includes everyday store items marked down because they are being discontinued, replaced, or overstocked.
These items are usually already reduced by 50% off or more, and during a clearance event they receive an additional discount on top of the markdown.

How did we predict this date?
Dollar General does not follow a set schedule for clearance events — they simply drop when they drop. However, there is a pattern:
✅ Events typically occur every 4–8 weeks
✅ Most run Friday–Sunday
✅ A few times a year, the sale extends Friday–Thursday
With the last clearance event timing and seasonal cycles in mind, November 14–20 lines up perfectly with DG’s historical rhythm.

As of November 03, clearance items found in the clearance aisle are scanning with upcoming-event pricing. Typically, when a clearance event is approaching, these items begin showing additional markdown behavior in the app — and this has started to show!!!! SO THAT IS A GOOD SIGN. This is consistent with a mid-November event timeframe.
We’ll continue watching the system and in-store tags closely. Once scanning behavior flips or stores begin prepping sale signage, that will be our first solid confirmation. Stay tuned — and as always, we’ll share updates the moment things start moving.
What Are CORE Items in a Dollar General Clearance Event?
CORE items are everyday products that Dollar General is phasing out — usually because of changes in scents, sizes, packaging, or discontinued lines. These items can be found either in the clearance aisle or still sitting in their regular spot on the shelf.
Normally, CORE markdowns are only around 10% off, but during a Dollar General Clearance Event, these same items receive an additional 50% off the already-reduced price — making them some of the best deals in the store.
CORE items can include things like cleaning supplies, laundry products, paper goods, personal care, household essentials, and more.
Note: The price you see when you scan an item in the Dollar General app on the day of the clearance event is the final price. It will not take an extra 50% off the price shown — the discount is already included in the scanned price.
Where Can I Find Clearance Items at Dollar General?
