Step 1; KNOW THE COUPON POLICY; This may seem like common sense or not something you should be looking at BUT THIS SHOULD BE THE FIRST STEP! Read the coupon policy for Dollar General. The only thing I am going to add to the policy is that some DG's will not accept printed coupons that are printed at home. This is allowed to deny per policy.
Step 2; Sign up for a Dollar General Account. This will enable you to get Dollar General digital coupons. You will have to have an email address and telephone number. They will want you to confirm the mobile number by sending a code, so you will have to use a number you have access to. Download the DG App in your App Store
How to use your Dollar General Digital Coupons
Go to your app and look for the EXPLORE DIGITAL COUPONS
Click on the coupon you are interested in, the coupon will show all eligible products available for that coupon
Click on the product you are wanting to buy, all eligible sales etc for that product will come up. In this case you will see the Scott tissue paper has an instant savings of $3.00 when you spend $16.00, this means when you spend $16.00 worth of Scott Products eligible for the instant savings. You will want to look at the product and what the current sales are on this item because it could mess up your transaction if you are trying to buy a certain threshold amount. This is often messed up when trying to do the Saturday $5/$25 deals.
Clip your coupons and go to the store and purchase your items. MAKE SURE YOU CLIP BEFORE YOU GO.
Go to check out and input your telephone number into the kiosk at checkout.

NOW, everything should go through as planned, but sometimes it does not. We will get into that later in the post.
DO NOT RELY ON THE APP FOR TOTALS, INVENTORY TOTALS, ETC. WHY?
Some people will rely on the app to give totals for your Saturday deals. The app gives the original price in your list then takes off the sale price or promotional price at the end which will give you a false subtotal giving you discounts that will not qualify in some instances. The app is ran by a third party which will never give correct inventory numbers as it is not updated in real time. This also makes it hard to place a pick up order as it may say something is in stock but it is not.
