INGREDIENTS FOR THIS Copycat Crumble Key Lime Cookies

When it comes to making the perfect copycat crumble key lime cookies at home, having the right ingredients is crucial. These cookies are known for their tangy and sweet combination, with a crumbly texture that melts in your mouth. To achieve this deliciousness, you will need the following ingredients:

1. All-purpose flour - This forms the base of the cookie dough and provides structure to the cookies.

2. Granulated sugar - Adds sweetness to balance out the tartness of the key lime juice.

3. Unsalted butter - Use unsalted butter to control the amount of salt in your cookies as some key lime juices can be quite salty.

4. Key lime juice - The star ingredient of these cookies! You can use freshly squeezed key limes or bottled key lime juice for convenience.

5. Lime zest - This adds an extra burst of citrus flavor and aroma to the cookies.

6. Baking powder - To help with leavening and give your cookies a light and airy texture.

7. Salt - A pinch of salt helps to balance out all flavors in the cookie dough.

8.Pure Vanilla Extract - Gives a subtle but important depth of flavor to these cookies.

9. Powdered sugar (for dusting) - Just like traditional shortbread, these crumble key lime cookies are dusted with powdered sugar after baking for added sweetness and decoration.

Most of these ingredients should be readily available in your pantry, except for perhaps fresh key limes or bottled key lime juice which you may have to purchase specifically for this recipe at your local grocery store.  However, if you cannot find any key limes, regular limes can also be used as a substitute but keep in mind that they may not have as strong a flavor as key limes do.

It's important to note that using quality ingredients will greatly impact the final result of your copycat crumble key lime cookies. So try to use high-quality butter, pure key lime juice, and freshly grated lime zest for the best flavor.

Now that you have all your ingredients ready, it's time to get baking! Follow the instructions in our recipe carefully for perfectly crumbly and mouth-watering cookies. With the right ingredients and a little bit of patience, you'll have these tasty copycat crumble key lime cookies ready to enjoy in no time!

Yield: 12-15 cookies

Equipment:

9x11 Baking Sheet

Parchment Paper

Cookie Scooper

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Bake Time: 13-15 minutes

Ingredients:

Cookies

1 cup butter, unsalted sweet cream butter

2 cups dark brown sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 ½ cup all purpose flour

1 cup graham cracker crumbs

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

Key Lime Filling ingredients AKA Key Lime Frosting

16 ounces cream cheese

1 can sweetened condensed milk

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

¼ teaspoon salt

⅓ cup key lime juice from key limes

⅓ cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 tablespoon key lime zest (you can use regular lime)

Topping

Lime Zest

Lime Slices

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare cookie sheets with parchment paper and set aside.

  2. In a mixing bowl add the softened butter and brown sugar. Blend until creamy.

  3. Then add in the eggs and vanilla together. Use a hand mixer to mix again until combined.

  4. Pour the crushed graham crackers and flour into the wet ingredients along with the baking soda, powder and salt.

  5. Use a rubber spatula to fold these dry ingredients with the wet until incorporated and no flour streaks are left.

  6. Use a large cookie scoop to make 2 inch round balls of cookie dough and place cookie balls on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart from each other.

  7. Use the bottom of a clean glass to press the center of each cookie and flatten, leaving a slight crinkly edge to each cookie, perfecting for filling with the key lime filling later.

  8. Bake in the oven for 13-15 minutes or until the edges of the cookies are set.

  9. Remove the cookies from the oven and let cool completely.

  10. While those cool, make the key lime filling.

  11. In a large bowl, add the cream cheese. Blend with a hand mixer until smooth. Then add the sweetened condensed milk along with the powdered sugar and salt.

  12. Blend again until creamy. Pour in the lime juice, heavy cream and vanilla extract. Blend for about 2 minutes until the filling becomes fluffy and silky smooth.

  13. Add the lime zest and fold into the filling until evenly distributed.

  14. Once the cookies have cooled, take a large tablespoon of the key lime filling and transfer to the center of each cookie. Spread evenly with the spoon creating a thick layer of filling.

  15. Repeat with the rest of the cookies. Top with a small dollop of whipped cream and finish with extra lime zest for garnish.

  16. Serve and enjoy!

  17. To give this cookie the iconic Crumbl cookie look you can top it off with a small lime wedge cut into triangles.

Notes:

  • If serving these cookies later, prepare the cookies and filling, but do not fill each cookie until ready to serve. Store the cookies in a airtight container separate from the key lime filing which should be placed covered or sealed in a plastic bag in the refrigerator.
